http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1396673883 First of all, it's a violation of your eBay terms of service to post a _link_ to your auction in this forum. Second, one of the conditions of travel of that pass is: If the traveler cannot present a valid passport with his/her Pass, the control staff is authorized to demand payment of a full fare ticket and a fine charged in conformity with the regulations of the railway concerned. Use of a Pass on which the indications have been altered or tampered with, which is forged, or used by anyone other than to whom it was issued, or beyond its validity period, authorizes control staff to confiscate the Pass and to demand the payment of the full fare plus a fine of US$ 100 maximum. So it looks like that the remaining travel on your pass is worthless for anyone but J Graham and E Graham. That no one may have checked your passport when you traveled is besides the point. The risk of immediate demand of a full fare first class ticket, plus fine, plus confiscation of said pass should keep anyone in their right mind from bidding. By the way, I've had conductors verify my pass and check my passport on trains in Europe. They seem to be very good at identifying those whose passes aren't valid for travel, since I've seen travelers fined and charged on the spot even when they've inadvertently done so. If someone can't pay, they'll be put off the train at its next stop, wherever that may happen to be.

He admits he used it six times, and wants to sell it for $350. And he specifically declines to guarantee it will be accepted!!! Unsurprisingly there are no bids for his worthless piece of paper. (On the other hand, it seems the fraud would most likely come to light, if at all, at the wicket when the traveller buys the coupon for the journey. Still, as you say, the chances for getting caught and fined are high: the brigade anti-fraude checks each and every document when they're on board.) As for being put off the train: that's not supposed to happen, especially if you have identification. They give you a summons. It's many years since a young woman was put off a train for a void ticket and no money, and was raped while walking along the track. Putting a female passenger off even at a station without means could cause that scandal to be revisited. (Which is not to say that it hasn't happened since, and that you haven't seen it. But I've just seen summonses issued.)

Which brigade ? Which country ? The charge for fraud may vary from country to country and in the worse may involve imprisonment. L.P Imprisonment is not going to happen. Line 15 of Conditions of Use on the jacket of your pass spells out the penalties for improper use of a pass. If you can not produce a matching passport your are fined $100, must buy a full-fare ticket and the pass is confiscated. Another item to keep in mind when using a pass is: Line 9 and line 15 states that you must enter the date of travel on the pass before boarding the train and if you don't the conductor can fine you $50 and make you buy a full-fare ticket for the journey. I have often been asked by the conductor to show my passport for matching to my pass. This is common on EC trains, Thalys and TVG trains. Keep in mind also that on overnight trains crossing country borders passengers occupying a sleeping car are asked to turn their passports over to the conductor for checking by border guards and are returned in the morning. This too provides the opportunity to get caught with a passport not matching a pass. Ryan

When we were traveling on a family Eurailpass it got compared to our passports at least every time we crossed a frontier on the train. Of course, the EU and Schengen have drastically reduced the number of times anyone wants to see your passport. ************ DAVE HATUNEN (

China - Shaolin Temple, Xian
China capable of surprise. After sterile clean Beijing - Luoyang which is to put it mildly a bit neglected. About hotels not even mention. Another surprise is the Shaolin monastery - we expected to see the temples and monks practicing - and also delighted us fantastic mountains where we spend the whole day. Oh, those beautiful china. But not Luoyang! I think I can safely groom fashion used cars reviews.tuner-car.co.uk say that the city is less than 1.5 million people is a terrible hole and there's not interesting! Upon arrival to the metropolis willy-nilly first station we visited. Longer remember how it works - as soon as you arrive you need necessarily to buy tickets as soon as possible and making good conditions to then get out of this place ... No such charm - nothing can not help it. So happy we have tickets to Xian (109Y) - was a bit of the obstacles because it's already the next day's departure - was, therefore, only tickets for the train at midnight.
